NSW Rail Corp initiated a trial of Automatic External Defibrillators in November 2007. The AEDs have already been used on several occasions reinforcing the need for defibrillators in public places to combat sudden cardiac arrest.
Rail Corp has announced a tender to place up to 100 Automatic External Defibrillators on its stations and XPT Country Link trains as part of the program.
Australian Defibrillators has tendered for the program using the Zoll AED Plus which is used by many rescue services including NSW Ambulance and NSW Fire Brigade.
